About the Role

Do you want to grow one of the best engineering communities and deliver reliable platforms at scale? We’re looking for a Chapter Lead to coach our DevOps & SRE engineers, define standards and toolchains, and partner with squads to raise automation, performance, and reliability across cloud-native environments.

As Chapter Lead, you’ll drive both our engineering practices and people development within the Automation & Orchestration platform. You’ll lead a motivated, high-performing international team while shaping strategy and practices that support Deutsche Telekom’s transformation. The role includes occasional international travel (~20%).

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People

  • Mentor and coach chapter members in both technical and professional growth.
  • Define career paths, set objectives, and provide regular feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and motivated team culture.

Strategy & Development

  • Define and own the DevOps/SRE vision aligned with platform strategy.
  • Drive adoption of best practices (AI, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automation, testing).
  • Continuously develop technical expertise and awareness of new technologies.

Collaboration & Global Impact

  • Partner with regional teams, deliver training, and represent the chapter at global events.
  • Act as a trusted advisor across international engineering communities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on expertise in DevOps & SRE (AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, Prometheus, ELK/EFK).
  • Strong grasp of system design, networking, and security principles.
  • Proven track record in automation, distributed systems, and incident response.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with ability to balance vision with operational demands.
  • International perspective, adaptability, and fluency in English (other languages a plus).
